My name is Holly Barron. This is the name I typically answer to. There are times, however, when I’ll also respond to Bobby G, Bey Bey Bey, and Holly Fabulous. All are nicknames given to me by my seriously charming, rugged, and generous husband, Tom. He does all of the laundry in our house so he can call me pretty much whatever he wants.
We’ve spent the last 6 years together raising my 9-year-old son, Gavin, who is too funny to describe, but on occasion I will try. We’ve also been trying to conceive for the past 2+ years and I’ll share some of those experiences as well. More the frustrations, emotional roller coaster-ing, and lessons learned than the doing it parts, though.
Just recently I’ve realized that my family is pack-like in the way we live. In addition to the three humans in the house, we have 4 dogs, Babe, Toby, PJ, and Walter, and 2 cats, B-Dawg and Jackie. All of our pets have sordid pasts and have lived to have us tell their tales. Which I will. To be honest, not many people come in and out of our house and this is in large part due to the pets. I’m not too upset about this.
Educationally, I earned my degrees in Communication and Gender Studies from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I’m proud of this accomplishment, as I was the first in my family to graduate from college, though I know I won’t be the last. I’ve worked in law firms, the cycling industry, and in marketing. Most recently I’ve added Pilates instructor to the list.
I’m religious about exercise and skin care. This might make me sound shallow, so I balance it out by reading good books, thinking deep thoughts, and not giving a shit what others think. I’m at my best after at least 8 hours of sleep, 2 cups of coffee, and am in the company of the ones I love.
I laugh everyday, if not because someone has said something funny, then because I have truly embarrassed myself and have come to terms with just how uncool I am. Fact.
