Meet Walter, the distinguished southern gentleman from Little Rock.

Casual Friday.
Walter came to live with us after being abandoned earlier this year. At 14 years of age, with cataracts and not much hearing left, Walter didn’t have a chance of surviving on his own. Fortunately, Little Rock Animal Services found Walter just in time. We just had the good fortune of stumbling upon their mobile unit at the Go Green Festival in March. Walter was shaved down from being so matted and malnourished, weighing only 8 pounds. They said they would waive the adoption fee if we wanted to take him because he was in such poor condition. No question that Walter was coming home with us.

First week.
Walter had a long road ahead of him. He needed more visits to the vet and dental surgery to have teeth extracted. It didn’t look like his teeth had ever been cleaned and many were decayed and beyond the point of repair. Once he had the surgery, he could eat better and started putting on some weight. As surely as his mane grew in, so too did his trust in people. He regained a little prance in his step and now as soon as anyone reaches down to pet him, he flops over onto his back so you can scratch his belly.
Walter has brought so much happiness into our lives and we love seeing other people respond to him with equal delight. Enjoy Walter!

Pretty sure he knows he's cute.
